About The American Muscle Tractor Alliance

The American Muscle Tractor Alliance has been established to promote the exciting sport of muscle tractor, farm stock, and diesel truck pulling across all class categories that have historically been the foundation of tractor pulling. This includes high-performance, unlimited horsepower classes such as Light Limited Super Stocks, Limited Pro Stocks, and Lightweight Limited Pro Stocks, as well as traditional MPH-limited classes. The Alliance proudly celebrates the journey of these vehicles from the farm fields to the pulling track, showcasing everything from stock tractors to custom-built, high-performance machines. Spearheaded by Tom McConnell under the banner of the American Tractor Pullers Association (ATPA), the Alliance is committed to preserving and advancing the rich legacy of this motorsport.

Tom McConnell, a visionary in the world of tractor pulling, founded the ATPA in 1991, growing it into the largest nationwide pulling sanctioning body before its sale in 2005. Undeterred, Tom continued to influence the sport and, in 2009, teamed up with puller Kevin Fulks to co-found the Battle of the Bluegrass Pulling Series. His passion for innovation and tradition led him to establish the Vintage Tractor Pullers Association (VTPA) in 2018, while simultaneously reviving the ATPA with a renewed vision for the future. Over his career, Tom has developed a multitude of successful events, attracting major sponsorships, launching impactful marketing campaigns, and securing national television coverage. Among his notable partnerships is an ongoing collaboration with RAM Trucks, initiated in 2018, to create a pulling-exclusive program that remains a standout in the industry.

Looking ahead to 2025, the ATPA will sanction American Muscle Tractor Alliance events across Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, and other states, bringing together competitors and fans to celebrate the power, history, and excitement of this uniquely American motorsport.
