I haven’t been to Frankfort since 1995. Now, it’s the same location but my how have the trees grown, and an actual neighborhood has grown into the area too. Quite a change in the past 25 years. And then you talk about hill-side pickup truck parking, wow! Everywhere was a good view, but if you didn’t have a pickup or a car, you better bring your lawn chair. But man, did it feel like you were sitting inside some grand stadium!
This being the first KITPA event I’ve been to, I was definitely impressed! Over 80 pullers in attendance and the pits were filled up with a great variety of classes were in the mix. It was a beautiful summer day in July, and the sky with the trees made a beautiful backdrop for the event.
I stopped by the announcement stand and I watched a kid have his own toy tractor pull right there in the booth. How lucky was he to be at a tractor pull and playing puller with his toy tractor and sled! When I got down to the bottom of the hill where the pull was, I saw just how tall the hill was. I thought to myself it was a good thing we didn’t have rainy weather because people would have a hard time getting back up that hill.
One of the cool things about Frankfort with it’s hillside seating, it’s so cool to see all of the busy activity in the pits as pullers were preparing for their runs and getting staged from pretty much anywhere in the seating area. There was lots of camaraderie, handshakes and fist bumps.
The KITPA is a great organization that feels like a big welcoming family. Fans and drivers alike need to check out their events. For more information and complete results, please visit their website at https://www.kitpapulling.com/
